Online Felt Classes by Patti Barker
Until we are able to safely meet again for in-person classes, I'll continue offering online, self-pacing felt classes. I chose Ruzuku.com as the host platform because the format makes it easy for participants to navigate.
HOW IT WORKS:
Most of these offerings I have taught in person and they are generally one-day classes. Online students will have three weeks to complete the activities at your leisure. After that your classes will be available indefinitely. The format includes video demonstrations, written instructions and plenty of photos. At the end of each activity there is an area to ask questions, post results and interact with other students. When you click a link for more information, you will be able to see the equipment list and a place to register for a future class. If you have any questions, send me an email at
The Magic of Pre-felt
Whether you're making nuno felt wearables, or sculptural hats, the techniques learned in Magic of Pre-felt will provide you more design tools. In this class you'll learn six different ways to use pre-felt. We will create a set of samplers featuring techniques you can use to inform future work. Techniques include shape patterns, nuno pre-felt, felt lace, waves and Shibori felt. Price $155, includes materials
Demystifying Felt Resists September 1st
Pattern resists allow us to create dimensional felt. You'll learn how hats and clothing are made, along with some other textural felt techniques. Participants learn how to use open, closed, layered and embedded resists while creating five samplers. We will make a small vessel, layered feathers, volcanos and a tiny dress. There will be a discussion on basic pattern making for felt clothing. Price $150, includes materials
Textural Felt Sampler Series August 9th
This course was designed in an effort to add techniques to your toolbox. An adventure in textural nuno felt techniques--from simulated animal skins to roses and ruffles, we will entrap beads, learn mosaics and create raised shapes. Makers will come away with six 10" x10" samplers featuring eight techniques. You will learn the skills to use in creating unique felted items. Price: $150 (includes materials)
Felt a Vessel - August 1st
This course is designed for beginning felt makers and people of all ages, or anyone wanting to make a felted vessel. Makers will learn how to layer wool for best results, the proper rolling technique, healing cut edges, shaping and more. Makers will use a flat, closed resist to create a three dimensional vessel. Cost: $60
